Cardiomyopathy is a progressive disease that causes the heart to become abnormally enlarged and involves the thickening of the walls of the heart muscle. The result is that the heart reduces the ability to pump blood effectively and usually results in heart failure.

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) A disease which involves the hardening and narrowing of the coronary arteries creating blockage of the vessels that supply blood to the heart. This usually the cause in a heart attack.

Congenital Heart Defects A disease that is different than other heart diseases in which the defects of the heart are present at birth. There are a wide range of defects that could cause many different array of heart problems.

Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) means that the hearts function does not pump enough blood to meet the needs of the body. The hearts muscles function to supply an adequate amount of oxygenated blood to the entire body the heart muscle is not strong enough to pump to meet the bodies needs.

Arrhythmia is a variation from a normal heart rhythm. When there is a persistant arrhythmia this may interfer with the hearts ability to pump blood properly out of the heart. This increases the chance of blood clots to remain in the heart chambers

Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack) This happens when a portion of the heart is deprived oxygen. There is a blockage in the coronary artery which supplies the heart muscle (myocardium) oxygenated blood. This may be caused by many different types of cardiac diseases.
